Turning Points Cards

Each team of students represents an actual local family. In Their Shoes offers an opportunity for students to create an historical fiction account of these families' lives by overgeneralizing the application of factual information. The representational village on the In Their Shoes game board includes thirteen different buildings or sites in which New England families where likely to have spent time. Each building on the game board has corresponding Turning Points Cards. Imagine that a team of students have just moved their pawn (representing their adopted historical family) to a new building on the game board. The Turning Points Card they choose might read as follows:
